Five Little Things

One of my goals in the coming months is to become more active on this blog again. I’ve gone from blogging almost every day to about once a month and you know what? That’s whack.

Time is an issue for me lately. My workload continues to increase at my full-time gig, plus I have been getting more and more involved in volunteer work over the past year. And I still have a husband and friends and a family and pets I want to spend time with.

So I thought to myself, “Self, how can we start blogging more with limited time?” My answer to myself was to try to blog short snippets every day — like five or so snippets of things I’m thinking about, activities I’m involved in, shit I think is funny and that sort of thing. Since I have a touch of ADD anyway, I’m really hopeful I can stick to this plan. And now, my five things for today:

1. Brian and I had an awesome date night last night. Apps and sushi at Kyoto, a quick trip to Toys R Us to see if they had Zombie Dice (they didn’t, but I can order it pretty cheap from Amazon), two games at Metro Bowl and several rounds of Catch Phrase with our neighbors. I went home last night feeling like one of the luckiest girls in the world. I have so many people who love me, and who I love in return, and life is just so awesome most of the time.

2. I quit the anti-anxiety drug I was taking. The side effects weren’t worth it so I just stopped altogether. I’m not saying that’s the right way to do things, but I started feeling normal again almost a day after I stopped taking the pills. In this case, I’m OK with being a quitter.

3. A Jaycee friend and I have been tossing around the idea of hosting some sort of project that involves a book drive. This morning I got an email about throwing a literary-themed dinner party that totally sparked my interest. If you threw a party like that, what would your theme be? There are so many possibilities!

4. Brian is turning 39 on Sunday. THIRTY-NINE. That seems so impossible and yet so awesome at the same time. Every year that goes by, he becomes a better (and handsomer, if that’s possible) version of himself. I’m so lucky to have been a part of his life for more than 10 years.

5. I love Pajiba.com. I found out about it through my friend Kevin and it’s just riddled with all sorts of pop culture items I want to read. That’s a tall order — there are so many pop culture sites out there, but a ridiculous number of super lame ones.

  1. Be mindful that suddenly stopping mood altering drugs can alter your moods in unexpected ways. I hope it works for you. Just know you may have a few side effects from stopping, too.

    Overall, congrats!

  2. Oops! I should have read this first about the meds before commenting on the last post!

I like the snippet idea! Fun light-hearted (or maybe short and not light-hearted, but you get the point) posts are fun :)

    What is Zombie Dice?!
